What a fabulous Melbourne Cup lunch at RAAFA Cafe, Bulcreek. Everyone was dressed for the occasion and Rhorie gave their slick pick trifecta swifts for the horses on the race. Horses numbers 11, 4 and 12 were the winners. Some would be a winner, rhorie will check the stubs at TAB this afternoon. The lunch were enjoyed by all, thank you to all the participants, support workers, volunteers and admin team who attended the occasion, it was lovely to have your company, as our CEO Ederlyn mentioned in her speech. It was indeed another event that stops the nation, Melbourne Cup 2024🏇

Well participated in Praise and Worship today at Ranford House and celebrated Billy’s grant of Permanent Visa, welcoming the new participants Michael and Eleanor, welcome back to Reza after 4 weeks at Armadale hospital and Praying for Melinda and his son’s visit in December, praying for all the volunteers and SW, CEO and admin staff and blessings for SOLW providing care for our lovely participants. We indulged in a yummy Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwich), salad, and pizza. Carrot cake, chocolate mud cake and fruit bowl for desserts.

We have a guest singer and musician Cedric Collars who entertained us and the participants and support workers singing as well on top of their voice. Everyone enjoyed the music by dancing to its tune. We also celebrated 3 birthday - Sheena, Billy and Lamphu, everyone enjoyed the delicious chocolate mud birthday cake. It was indeed an enjoyable morning of singing and dancing then lunch was served afterwards.

SOLW team attended the fundraising dinner for the Vincentian Retreat Centre Perth. The event was filled with Gospel Music, Line Dancing, Raffles and Bingo game. Our CEO Ederlyn won in the Auction of a reprint frame of Mother Theresa, originally painted by local artist Sylvia from Willetton Parish. Annette, one of our participants enjoyed the night meeting lots of her friends from different parish communities, and singing “Rivers of Babylon” as well. We supported the event by buying raffle and bingo tickets, Dan won one of the raffles. The fundraising event was enjoyed by all, danced in the lively music of the band until the event sign off.

Tuesday board games for Reza and Mellinda and diamond beading for Jolie. We enjoyed the mushroom cuisine today - chicken and mushroom stroganoff, mushroom soup, mash potatoes, Turkish bread and chicen wings bbq. Pumpkin and plain scones with jam and cream for desserts. Some participants are absent but we definitely relax and enjoyed the lunch and after noon activity.

Tuesday craft and lunch gathering at Maddington House. It’s a busy morning in the house, jolie shared some photos of the Mother’s Day craft presents she did for her mum last week and she shared that her mum was so happy with her personalised gifts. Reza learned how to write his name on the iPad and in the big sheet of paper. Mellinda joined Reza in putting embellishment in her scrapbook photo. The participants enjoyed spaghetti bolognaise, pumpkin soup, chicken strips and garden salads for lunch. It was a productive and enjoyable day.

Tuesday craft - Mosaic cup holder - the participants enjoyed lining up the tiles in the square cut wood using liquid glue, the made patterns of two tile colours. This activity improved their fine motor skills and sharing stories among each other helped them boost their self esteem. Well done guys❤🙏👍

Mandurah Crab Festival overnight trip with SOLW pa

Mandurah Crab Festival overnight trip with SOLW participants, support workers and the management team. Reza, Mellinda, Annette, Lachlain and Jolie were the participants who attended the Crab Festival. We stayed overnight so they can enjoy the night events and fireworks as well. This trip made the participants enjoyed more of the outdoor activities, they loved the food stalls. We had burgers, fish and chips and crabs paella, and yummy desserts - chocolate coated strawberries and mango smoothies.
